“You’re almost as messed up as I am.”
Heart = broken.
So that kiss from last week… ya, that didn’t end there, Barney and Robin slept together! Yes! While in bed, the two discuss what they are going to do. They remember that they have a dinner on a boat for Nora and Robin’s news station and that they are going to be stuck together for three hours. Swarles (Swarley + Sparkles) decide that they aren’t going to tell anybody anything that happened.
Cut to the boat where that plan goes right out the window. Barney tells Robin that he still has feeling for her, and thinks about her all the time. He believes that the two of them belong together (OMG YES!). Robin and Barney each decide to tell their significant others about what happened and then they will meet up at McClaren’s at midnight to discuss their relationship. But that’s when it all goes wrong…
Robin is about to tell Kevin when he accidentally gets a drink thrown in his face and has to go to the emergency room. Robin is about to tell him there when Kevin professes that he is in love with Robin and that something’s that need to be said don’t need to be heard.
Barney is about to tell Nora when her parents show up a day early. Nora’s father talks about how when two people are in love they can’t stop thinking about one another and that they can’t imagine their lives without the other person. Cue Barney having the greatest reminiscing scene of all time… one that just makes you go: AWE! It is then that Barney decides to tell Nora and the two break up (THANK YOU! HATED NORA!)
Barney goes to the bar, expecting to see Robin come in, single and ready to talk about their future. Instead Robin shows up and right behind her comes Kevin (and cue my heart breaking). When Kevin goes to sit in his booth Barney shoots Robin a look and Robin shakes her head no in the longest second of Barney’s life. Barney then excuses himself and goes up to Ted and Robin’s apartment to clear the rose petals that he had placed on Robin’s bed off. (Heart = shattered).
There is also a subplot of Marshall and Ted getting high at a 90’s palooza and getting lost in their search for nachos. It was funny, but the bit kind of got old after a while.
Robin: “I’m such a mess. Why do you even like me?” Barney: “I guess cause you’re almost as messed up as I am.” (*sobs into my pillow*)
Barney: “Uh, lets see. Suits. Laser tag. I say ‘wait for it’ a lot. That’s pretty much it.”
Overall Grade: A. Although this episode ripped my shipper heart to pieces and scattered it to the winds, I do have to admit it is one of the best episode the series has ever produced. I have never cried at a HIMYM episode before, and I will admit, that I definitely did for this one. I still have hope for the twosome and I’m hoping the season finale will bring them together and they will get married, just because that would be so delightfully spectacular. I don’t even care who the mother is at this point, really.
