So double the Winchesters IS double the fun!
Sam and Dean are robbing a bank… wait! Sam and Dean are robbing a bank? And they kill everyone? Oh, that’s right… this is “Supernatural” so, hello doppelgangers!
Cut to Bobby trying to make the Leviathan guy talk (he’s tied up in chair in the basement). And the Leviathan guy (referred to as LG for the rest of this recap) is rather chatty. Something about an algorithm used to track their aliases and all that jazz. LG says that he is the least of the Winchester’s problems: they should go check out the news.
So now they know that the Leviathan had made copies of Sam and Dean and they’re causing havoc (shocker!).
So Bobby sends Sam and Dean off to a friend of his named Frank who Bobby believes can be of some assistance. However, when the boys arrive, trigger happy Frank pulls a gun on them, “who sent you? NSA, the feeb, March of Dimes?” S&D tell him Bobby which only seems to agitate him, but for some reason, you just like him more. He gives S&D new aliases (Tom and John Smith), a new laptop and a new POS car, which irks Dean more than anything. Frank also gives the boys a map of the places that the faux Sam and Dean have hit.
In the car, the POS car, Sam realizes that faux S&D have hit all of the places where they have had cases, in the order that they had them since the day Dean got Sam from school. They know where faux S&D are going next. (oh, and Dean sings Air Supplys “I’m all Out of Love.” In one of the funniest scenes ever. Seriously, Youtube it) Sam and Dean show up, only to be arrested while faux Sam and Dean watch… and wink… creepily. Meep.
Back at Bobby’s cabin, Jodi, that sheriff from a while back, shows up randomly and offers to cook him a meal and clean his house… and immediately alarm bells are going off in my head. WTF is she doing there? There is no warning that she’s going to show up or anything and I just have a bad feeling that this is going to come back later and bite Bobby in the ass. Anyway, at one point LG turns into Bobby as Bobby is torturing him. Something drips from the ceiling and burns LG which causes Bobby to jump up and run upstairs. Turns out Jodi is cleaning the floor and the water (soap included) had dripped through the floor onto LG. Bobby rushes over to Jodi and kisses her. Turns out the Borax in the soap can be used to harm Leviathan.
Back at the Sheriff station where S&D are being held, Dean asks for a phone call. He calls Bobby who tells him about the borax. Faux S&D show up, kill two deputies, and turn into them. The sheriff sees this and lets Dean out who runs into Faux Sam who slaps Dean around a little bit. During this time Faux Dean goes to see Real Sam and lets him know that hey, remember Amy, ya, Dean killed her. Well, crap…
Meanwhile Real Dean is fighting Faux Sam when the Sheriff comes out and pours borax on FS. Dean lops off his head, goes to rescue Real Sam and lops of Faux Deans head (got that? So many Winchesters… so little time).
The Sheriff lies to the FBI agents that show up, telling them that Sam and Dean are dead.. ya, well, one of the FBI agents is a Leviathan… he kills the sheriff, and his daughter who is a medical examiner… damn!
Turns out Leviathan has control of the FBI. The head LG is leaving the FBI building when Crowley shows up in his limo trying to strike up a deal. LG tells Crowley to shove it, Crowley disappears.
The final scene is one of Sam confronting Dean at a rest stop. Sam is pissed that Dean killed Amy. Sam takes off (again! How many times is that going to happen?!)
*This is a whole conversation that I loved*
Faux Dean: “You know that he (real dean) has one of these (holds up hamburger) every day. And in his heart, he thinks they’re almost as good as sex. This… is disgusting.”
Faux Sam: “Dead plants with creamy goo (salad). It’s like… eating self-righteousness. I mean, you tell me which is worse.”
FD: “I mean honestly, I just… I… You know what? I can’t stand the guy. Talk about a hero complex. And he doesn’t have relationships… no, he has applications for sainthood. Oh, and he thinks he’s funny. Thinks he’s a damn comedian.”
FS: “Who has two thumbs and full blown bats in the belfry (points thumbs at himself). I’m serious! It’s nothing but Satan-vision on the inside. I mean, how he’s walking around in a jacket with detachable arms is… beyond me. Ya know, I had a brother with this many issues once.”
FS: “Know what I did?”
FS: “I ate him.”
FD: “Of course you did.”
FS: “How are these guys even a threat?”
FD: “Boss says they gotta go, they gotta go.”
FS: “Right… Idea. Wanna trade? I mean I’ll take Chuckles over Skitzo.”
FD: “Nah… I like this one’s hair better. You can stay in the big one.”
Bobby: “If you’re gonna be stupid, you may as well be smart about it.”
Bobby: “Great… just what we need, mensa monster.”
Dean: “Nobody puts baby in a corner!”
Sam: “You know that’s a line from…”
Dean: “Swayze move… Swayze always gets a pass.”
Overall Grade: B. I really enjoyed this episode. Double the Winchesters just meant double the pretty that I get to look at. Plus it was funny and it added to the mythology of the show. I can’t wait to see how Leviathan is going to come after the boys again. I did have some complaints though… like I still miss Cas, and I hope he comes back really soon. I also didn’t like that Sam did the whole “I’m ditching you, Dean, for pissing me off!” thing again… really? It would have been better if he had stolen Dean’s car and driven off with it. THAT would have been awesome.
