Ok first of all, how awesome is Mike Chang? No seriously. From his audition for “West Side Story” (Mike can sing!!), to the dance scene with his mother, this episode made me fall in love with that character. He has never really been in the spot light before and this episode put him front and center. We got to see a different side of Mike, a side that I think everyone loved.
Now, onto business.
I can’t be the only one who misses Quinn’s pink hair… right? She either needs the long blonde hair, or the short pixie pink hair. The blonde bob is just not doing it for me at all.
Oh and Vampire Tina… LOVE. More of that I say!
I loved Brittney’s performance of “Run the World (girls)”. I’m all for girl power, however, you don’t need to dress like a slut in order to feel empowered. Just saying.
And that brings me to Rachel and Mercedes.
First, lets talk Mercedes. Amazing singer and performer. Total diva. It was extremely hard for me to feel sorry for Mercedes in this whole episode. She bitched and complained that everything was everyone else’s fault and refused to take responsibility for anything. She claimed it was “Rachel’s world” and that everyone always cowed down to her, and gave her all the lead parts. Ya, well you know why, Mercedes? Rachel, annoying as she may be at times, works her ASS off to get what she wants. She’s driven and passionate. Mercedes thinks that she should just be handed everything. The performance where everyone was ganging up on her, it was the first time that I have EVER agreed with Santana…EVER. Mercedes needs to grow up and stop blaming the world for her problems when clearly, the blame lies on herself.
Now Rachel… oh Rachel. You try, you really do, but WTF?! I understand that you want to make yourself look better on your college applications, but is it really necessary to alienate a friend (Kurt) in order to do so? You could have run as vice president, or secretary, but no, you needed the spotlight all for yourself. I wonder how this is going to play out the rest of the season. Is she still running for president even though she got the lead in “West Side Story?” Hmmm…
BLAINE + Sweater Vest + bow tie = one of the most adorable things I have ever seen.
I love Will and Emma, I really do. They are one of the most adorable couples I have seen on TV in a long time. But Will, damn it, if a woman tells you she doesn’t want you to meet her parents, there is a reason for it… maybe they hate their daughter dating someone, maybe they won’t like you… maybe they’re ginger supremacists… And angry Will… wow! As my former roommate used to say “Oh Will is sexy when he’s angry! Oh baby, hit me!”
BTW: Loved the version of “fix you.” It’s one of my favorite songs and I think they did it justice.
Overall, I would rate this episode a B+. I think it was overhyped so my expectations where a little higher, and it fell just a little bit short.
Needs more Blaine and Finn. Did Cory Monteith piss somebody off or something? He’s barely been in this season, and frankly, I miss him.
And Will needs to sing more. He has an amazing voice.
Next episode of Glee airs Nov. 1st 2011 at 8p.m. EST on FOX.
